Easier Indic input
HP Labs India recently launched a “gesture-based keyboard” (GKB), a new input method that will allow more people to use computers without typing. Current keyboards for Indian language entry are bilingual or map multiple characters on a Latin-script layout or require a monitor display for Indic characters. The HP Labs GKB page offers a Flash demo as well as the story of a one-man computer-based business that uses the GKB technology. Also see the recent article in The Hindu, which adds that the GKB can be used as a mouse, “allowing the capture of signatures, pictures and other visual elements.”
